Juan Arraya: Meet the Team
Juan Martinez-Arraya is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. He started playing tennis when he was 5 years old, competed in all age groups during his juniors’ years and he achieved a top 5 ranking every year.

Juan moved to the United States in 2002 to work as an assistant tennis professional at the Pascack Valley Tennis Center in Park Ridge, NJ. Soon after, he become the assistant tennis professional at the Belle Haven Club in Greenwich, CT where he worked two summers. In September of 2004, Juan became the Head Tennis Professional at the Greenwich Country Club in Greenwich, CT where he worked for the next 3 years. In April 2007, Juan became the first ever all year round Director of Racquet Sports at the Aspetuck Valley Country Club, where he took the racquets program to new heights. In March of 2013, he became the Director of Tennis and Platform Tennis at the Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY and after two years he became the Director of Racquet Sports at the Greenwich Country where he is currently working.
This past April Juan won the 40 & Over Clay Court Doubles Nationals played in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This event was an ITF Level 1 (highest level world wide) event and one of the four National Championships played during the year.
Juan has been ranked in the top 5 in the American Platform Tennis Association (APTA) for the past 12 years. He was the 2019 APTA Men’s Doubles Nationals Champion, a three-time Mixed Doubles National Champion, a two-time singles National Champion and has won over 40 National Rating Tournament Titles during his career. Juan is currently the player with more Grand Prix titles (nine) since the series began.
Juan also served in the Board of Directors for the APTA and was in charge of running all the clinics and exhibitions for the APTA. He ran over 20 events around the country during his time on the board.
Juan Martinez Arraya started competing in the Pickleball Professional Tour in October of 2020 and he earned a Bronze medal in singles at the Hilton Head APP Tour Event. He is currently ranked #15 (high as #6) in the world singles pickleball rankings and he has a combined ranking of #19 in the world.
In the last few years, Juan has become very involved with pickleball and has started a new league in the northeast where the sport is starting to grow. The league currently has 40 country clubs participating in and over 1300 players. The FWPL has become the largest pickleball interclub league in the United States. Besides running the league, Juan was named the Pickleball Professional Registry (PPR) head clinician in the northeast and has certified over 60 professionals in the area in the last three months.

Juan’s has recently been named part of the United States Padel Association (USPA) Team. He has been recruited to participate in the Padel World Championship to be played in Doha, Qatar and the Panamerican Games to be played in Misiones, Argentina.
Juan is the co-founder and co-owner of skullU Paddles (www.skullUpaddles.com). skullU is a line of paddles, accessories and clothing for Pickleball, Platform Tennis and Padel.
Lastly, Juan is currently a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Elite Professional, a Platform Tennis Professional 1 certified as well as a PPR Certified Professional.
Juan was named the 2016 USPTA Professional of the Year and the 2016 USPTA Player of the Year.
Also in 2016, Juan received the award for Leadership Distinguished Achievement by Boardroom Magazine
